How It Works

How does electrolysis hair removal work?

Electrolysis works by targeting each hair follicle individually. A licensed electrologist inserts a very fine probe — about the width of a hair — alongside the hair shaft and into the follicle opening. A small electrical current is then delivered directly to the follicle, destroying its ability to produce hair permanently.

There are three types of electrolysis: galvanic (uses direct current to chemically destroy the follicle), thermolysis (uses radio frequency heat), and blend (combines both). At Bare Hair Electrolysis, the method used is selected based on your specific hair and skin type to achieve the most effective and comfortable result.

Because hair grows in cycles, not all follicles are active at the same time. Multiple sessions spaced several weeks apart are needed to catch every follicle during its active growth phase. This is why complete clearance takes months rather than one session — but every follicle treated in each session is permanently gone.

Electrolysis works on every hair color, every skin tone, and every hair type — including fine, blonde, gray, and red hair that laser cannot treat. It is the most universally effective permanent hair removal method available.
