How It Works

Is electrolysis actually permanent?

Yes. Electrolysis is the only hair removal method the FDA officially recognizes as permanently effective. That is not marketing language — it is the regulatory distinction that separates electrolysis from every other method, including laser.

During electrolysis, a tiny probe is inserted into the hair follicle and a small electrical current is delivered that destroys the follicle at its root. Once destroyed, that follicle cannot produce hair again. Ever. This is true regardless of hair color, skin tone, or hair type.

Laser is classified by the FDA as "permanent hair reduction" — meaning it can significantly reduce hair, but cannot guarantee it does not return. Many clients see laser results last for years, but regrowth is common — especially with hormonal conditions like PCOS, or for hair colors and skin tones that are not ideal laser candidates.

At Bare Hair Electrolysis in Riverton, Utah, every follicle we treat is permanently gone. There are no touch-up packages, no annual maintenance — just done.
