Comfort & Your First Visit

Does electrolysis hurt?

Most clients describe electrolysis as a quick flash of heat or a small stinging sensation — brief, localized, and then over. "Weird but very manageable" is how most people put it after their first session. True pain is uncommon.

Sensation varies by area. The upper lip tends to be most sensitive due to dense nerve endings. Chin, neck, and jawline are usually very manageable. Body areas like underarms, legs, and arms are typically the easiest. Sensitivity also decreases over sessions as your skin adapts — clients consistently report that later sessions feel less intense than the first.

A few things reduce discomfort significantly: taking ibuprofen 30–45 minutes before your appointment, avoiding caffeine the morning of, staying well hydrated, and coming in relaxed. Tension and anxiety genuinely increase sensitivity, so first appointments at Bare Hair Electrolysis in Riverton, Utah always start slowly to make sure you feel comfortable before we begin.

Sessions start at just 15 minutes — there is no pressure to commit to long sessions until you know how you feel. The vast majority of first-time clients leave saying it was far better than they expected.
