Permanent Underarm & Bikini Hair Removal

No more shaving. No more ingrowns. Just smooth, permanently.

Shaving your underarms and bikini area is one of those things you do so often you've stopped thinking about it — until you do the math on how much time it actually takes over a lifetime. Ingrown hairs, razor burn, and stubble that shows up a day after shaving are just part of the deal. Until they're not.

Electrolysis permanently removes body hair — including underarm and bikini hair — by destroying individual follicles with a small electrical current. Bare Hair Electrolysis in Riverton, Utah treats these areas regularly, and Em knows how to make both as comfortable as possible.

What Is Underarm & Bikini Electrolysis?

Underarm and bikini electrolysis uses a precisely inserted hair-fine probe to deliver a small electrical current into each hair follicle. The current permanently destroys the follicle's ability to produce hair. The treated hair slides out cleanly.

This method works on all hair colors and all skin tones — which matters in the bikini area specifically, where laser causes more complications on darker skin or lighter hair. It also addresses ingrown hairs directly: once the follicle is destroyed, there's nothing to grow back and get trapped.

How It Works

You'll start with a free consultation where Em will look at the treatment area, discuss your goals (full removal, partial shaping, bikini line cleanup, full Brazilian, etc.), and give you an honest picture of the timeline.

Underarm sessions are typically 15–30 minutes. Bikini sessions range from 30–60 minutes depending on the extent of treatment. Hair grows in cycles, so you'll need regular sessions over several months to permanently clear the area. As you progress, the hair becomes noticeably lighter and sparser between sessions.

Who Is It For?

Underarm and bikini electrolysis is ideal for:

  • Anyone tired of daily or every-other-day shaving — electrolysis ends that routine permanently
  • Clients with ingrown hairs in the bikini area — ingrowns are caused by hairs that curl back into the follicle. Once the follicle is destroyed, the problem is eliminated at the source.
  • Clients with darker skin tones — laser on the bikini area can cause burns and hyperpigmentation on deeper skin. Electrolysis is safe for all skin tones.
  • Clients with fine or light underarm or bikini hair — laser can't treat light-colored hair. Electrolysis can.
  • Clients who've had unsatisfying results with laser — electrolysis permanently finishes what laser started
  • Athletes and active clients — reduced hair in high-friction areas means less chafing, irritation, and heat retention

What Results Can You Expect?

Results are permanent. Once a follicle is treated, it doesn't produce hair. Most clients notice a dramatic reduction in hair density and regrowth within the first few sessions. Full clearance of underarms typically takes 9–15 months; bikini clearance depends on the extent of treatment and individual hair density.

Between sessions, regrowth becomes finer, lighter, and slower. Many clients stop shaving between appointments entirely within a few months of starting treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions — Underarm & Bikini Electrolysis

Is bikini electrolysis painful?

The bikini area is more sensitive than legs or arms — most clients describe it as a quick pinch or sting with each treatment. Em adjusts settings for your comfort and works at a pace that keeps the session manageable. Many clients find it much more tolerable than they expected.

Can electrolysis do a full Brazilian?

Yes. Em can treat the entire bikini area including the labia if that's your goal. This is a more involved treatment in terms of time and sessions, but it's completely achievable with electrolysis.

I have ingrown hairs from shaving my bikini area. Will electrolysis help?

Yes — and this is one of the most satisfying uses of electrolysis for clients who deal with chronic ingrowns. Electrolysis destroys the follicle so there's nothing to grow back and get trapped. Active ingrowns can also be treated directly.

How long does permanent underarm hair removal take?

Most clients reach full clearance of their underarms within 9–15 months of regular sessions. Underarms are a relatively small area, so sessions are short and progress happens quickly.

I have darker skin. Is bikini electrolysis safe for me?

Yes. Electrolysis is completely safe on all skin tones, including deep brown and Black skin. Laser on the bikini area is specifically risky for darker skin — burns and hyperpigmentation are documented risks. Electrolysis carries no skin-tone-related risk.
