Does electrolysis work for PCOS facial hair?

Yes — and for PCOS clients, electrolysis is specifically the better choice over laser. Here is why.

PCOS causes elevated androgens that continuously activate hair follicles, producing coarse, dark hair on the chin, neck, upper lip, sideburns, and jaw. The critical issue is that PCOS does not just cause hair to grow once — it keeps activating new follicles over time. Laser targets only follicles in the active growth phase during treatment, but with PCOS, new follicles keep entering that phase. You can complete a full laser series and still see hair return because the hormonal driver never stopped.

Electrolysis permanently destroys every follicle it treats. That specific hair cannot come back. If your hormones activate a new follicle six months later, we treat that one too — and it is gone permanently. Over time, the total amount of active hair genuinely decreases. Many long-term PCOS clients reach a point where sessions become infrequent.

At Bare Hair Electrolysis in Riverton, Utah, PCOS clients are some of the most rewarding to work with because electrolysis is the one method that actually delivers real, cumulative progress on hormonal hair growth.
